Formed in 2017, Imperial Stout is a country music outfit based out of Bakersfield, California. Combining styles of both modern and classic country artists, with a soft spot for Bakersfield’s own rich musical history, we bring forth a colorful palette of tracks that range from slow and steady, to driven jams with a hard rock tinge. As we grow as musicians, we keep in mind influences from all styles of music and utilize our strengths to support each other while creating a quality experience for your ears.
My name is Jacob Ramos, and I am 23 years old. I am Imperial Stout’s lead vocalist and rhythm guitarist. I was born in Reno Nevada and moved to Bakersfield California at the age of two. At the age of nine I wanted to be enrolled in guitar lessons. Since then I have been involved in various competitive public education music programs, local bands, and recording projects. I can appreciate good work from any genre. My favorite genre is Country because it is more diverse than it has ever been before and there is a positive attitude that is associated with the country sound and community.
Within country music from this decade I find there are influences from every genre: rock and roll, blues, reggae, pop, hip-hop, and more. Some of my favorite artists include Toby Kieth, Garth Brooks, Brad Paisley, John Mayer, Zac Brown Band, Luke Combs, and Midland. Some of my favorite artists from an older generation of traditional country music are Buck Owens, Don Rich, Merle Haggard, Roy Nichols, Waylon Jennings, and Hank Williams Jr. The Bakersfield Sound is a genre of country music that I feel very passionate about, and I am proud to be a part of the town that created such a well known style of country music.
